It’s game night and the living room is primed for the event. The couch is big, the volume is up, the snacks are out and it’s game time!
The snacks are key! If you want to have a festive game night with your family, you have to bring the snack game, otherwise, people won’t want to be there enough. My kids will tolerate a hockey game, but it’s the snacks that really get them going. So what are we having tonight? Are we into stacked supreme nachos? Or, are we going with an “everything you could possibly air fry” theme? Or, should we go full blown charcouterie board with fresh bread, salami, cheeses, olives, pickles, fresh fruit…you name it? Like I said, go big, now let’s get the W!
Now the real experience starts, it’s game time. This is the shared event for the whole family. being together is really more important that the game because experiences are almost always better when they are shared with people that you care about.
I have had a hard time selling this for my family though. My wife is watching because she knows I want to and she wants to spend the time together, so god bless to that. My kids on the other hand, they are less motivated, but the food gets them there at least.
Another important aspect of the event is that you are both chilling and illing. Yes, I used to term “illing” because although you are chilling with your feet up (including few burps here and there for good measure) you are also illing in that you are animated and screaming with great anticipation of the action on the screen. Nothing releases the stress like some chill with a little bit of rage to pepper the event.
Put it all together and you are a family that is experiencing the highs and lows, the feast, the excitement, and the ultimate victory that is the W. Go Jets Go!!!
